Hunting Daylight

Here is another Review I did for Fresh Fiction that was recently posted to their website.  You can read it here:  http://freshfiction.com/review.php?id=36311

Jude and Caro Barrett are a vampire and hybrid married couple. They are also on the run and in desperate need of money. The cost of the black market blood Jude needs to survive keeps getting higher. When a job offer comes in from the Al-Din Corporation, a 31 day expedition in Africa, Jude accepts the offer, leaving Caro and their three year old Daughter Vivienne. After ten days, Caro receives word that Jude's team has gone missing...presumed dead.

While unexpectedly losing a loved one is rough, the not knowing what really happened is what is the worse part for Caro. While she and Vivienne or Vivi, try to get on with their lives, Still on the run from those who want to use Vivienne or Vivi's unique DNA and blood. They are never in one place for long, always moving, always cautious. Ten years after Jude disappears, Caro has him legally declared dead.

As the latest threat to Vivi surfaces, they run yet again with family friend and vampire, Raphael. Rapheal is the only person she has ever come to trust and rely on. As the danger escalates, Caro's feelings for Raphael also deepen. Caro goes to great lengths to keep Vivi safe and her own heart from breaking all over again.
HUNTING DAYLIGHT is the second book in the series, but I was able to follow along and get absolutely absorbed into this novel. I was able to connect with each of the characters, and plot. Piper Maitlano is a new author for me, but one that I will certainly look out for in the future.
